The story

The Baker Food Co-op is more than a grocery store—it’s a community-owned cornerstone. Our historic building needs targeted repairs and energy upgrades so it can continue serving Baker City safely and sustainably.

What your donation makes possible: safer sidewalks and entry areas in Phase I, followed by window and building-feature reconstruction in Phase II—bringing the building up to current codes for energy efficiency.

Project phases

  • Phase I — Safety & repair
Repair and renovation of the sidewalks surrounding the building to improve safety for patrons as they enter.
  • Phase II — Energy efficiency upgrades
Reconstruction of windows and building features to bring this historic 1920 building into current codes for energy efficiency.

Why this matters

  • Preserve local history
Protect a beloved downtown landmark and the story it carries.
  • Support a stronger co-op
A safer, more efficient building helps reduce long-term costs and supports our mission.
  • Invest in the community
Every gift is a vote of confidence in Baker City’s future.
